Tacking/Jiving Course
Have 10 or so buoys laid out in 2 parallel rows in staggered positions. The boat would start at one end in the middle and the destination point, or finish line, at the far end. The goal would be to tack left and right around the buoys to the finish line. When the game starts, the sailor would have a dial (compass) where they could set the wind direction from in relation to the course, so they could practice with the destination point directly upwind, and have to tack to get there. Or, the wind could be coming from slightly port, or off the starboard beam, etc. Each of these settings would give a new challenge to practice. Each time you finish the course and play it again, you get a ghost of your best time to race against, so you can see where you went wrong and try to improve. Also, you could dial the wind to be to your stern, and have to jive around the buoys to get to the finish. This would let sailors focus on tacking and jiving without having to be in a race format. There could be options to add obstacles, like shallows or cardinal buoys, etc. A difficulty setting might also be how far apart or staggered the buoys are. You should also be able to set the wind speed, so speed and direction.
Jive is a dance. Changing direction down wind is called a GIBE or JIBE
