Weather system
Weak, Normal, Strong Wind.
Or maybe even https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort_scale and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_sea_scale
For example, for in A Daily Race Practice - a user could be notified about the weather forecast, and would have an option to choose sails ( or reefs )
We already have this more or less — in Globe, we have various weather conditions, and in daily race practice, the wind strength varies for each race.
Yes, that would be very, very good and would bring variety. Now the weather is always the same. The wind direction tends to change too much today (gambling). Especially when the courses are so short, there's far too much luck involved. Gusts can also come more spatially - at the moment they are always higher on the wind. Real weather would be really great - but then the courses would have to be a bit longer.
My proposals:
- Wind direction could vary (+/- x°) on a random basis
- Gusts could be more or less heavy and wind direction could change in gusts
- Maybe races with real-time weather conditions from an online weather source?
Markus Busche: for the first two points: thats exactly what it is at the moment. And real time weather is only a semi optimal solution in my opinion. Way too many races IRL got cancelled because of real weather conditions.
