Fixing the centreboard on downwind course
It should be possible to fix the centreboard of the dinghy raised. It is very tedious to always hold the centreboard up by hand - even if a line can be attached to it.
You know about the trigger button trick, right? It's not quite the same as being able to fix it, but you can hold it up on a long "wire" if you grip it with the trigger (index finger instead of thumb).
Dave Syer: sure, that’s what i ment with “line attached”.
Dave Syer: Thanks, finally i figured it out. Oculus button -> Settings -> crosshair icon.
For me it always works to press Oculus and reset the perspective. You can easily do that in the 90s you have to start a race in my experience.
Dave Syer: Or maybe a settings option to reposition the boat within the guardian.
I see. You need at least an arms length of space in front of you IRL. If that’s not possible I guess you won’t be able to use the daggerboard right now. It could be enabled via point and click I guess for people with small spaces. It’s not much space though, an arms length. I play at my desk sometimes.
Dave Syer: Sorry for the confusion, i'm playing in my study room which has limited space, my guardian is in front of my work desk and my printer/scanner/copier is under the desk, also outside the guardian. I cannot reach the VR centerboard because it's positioned inside my RL printer under the desk. So i don't know how to position the centerboard inside the guardian.
I don’t think I understand. You don’t know how to change your position inside the guardian? What’s the “printer”?
Dave Syer: Thanks but the centerboard is positioned outside my guardian in my printer and i don't know how to change this, maybe aim and trigger the centerboard instead of touching it with the controller would do it, just a thought.
Dave Syer: I can't even reach the the centerboard on the Q2. Would it be posssible to operate it using the controller?
You might have to change your position in the guardian space. I usually shuffle forward a bit before the race starts so I can reach the daggerboard. You can operate it with the controller, I think (isn't that what I said), but you have to be able to touch it to get it started. So when you want to raise it, lean forwards and touch it with your controller, touch the trigger and then you can sit back and control it from the "wire".
