Water ripples to indicate wind direction

Often I rely on the water wavelets to indicate wind direction. The wind arrow on the compass is great, but water wavelets would add more convenience and realism to the sailing experience, and would enable us to know the wind direction without having to look at the compass.
A change in the wavelets could also indicate when we can expect an upcoming wind change, such as a lift or a header.
