Detailed and Realistic Yacht Simulation - Sandbox Mode (procedural practice, make it as real as possible)

Who it’s for: Students and aspiring skippers practicing for real-life certification (NauticEd / RYA / ASA) and boat owners who want to practice procedures in the off-season or train their crew. --- I’m asking for a high-fidelity Free Sail sandbox mode for skippers who want to practice real procedures, not just sail around. Starting with Yacht - it should be fully simulated so the procedures you practice in VR match what you’d do on a real yacht. Procedural examples (must feel 1:1): Tack / gybe: the same steps, in the same order, with the same line handling you’d need in real life. Mistakes have realistic consequences. Heave-to: should be possible and behave realistically Reefing: the steps to reef (and un-reef) should match real-world procedure. Sail handling: hoist/lower sails with realistic friction, tension, and consequences if you do it wrong Systems fidelity (core features): Full access to all lines: halyards, sheets, and sail control lines (vang, outhaul, traveler, backstay etc.) Winches that behave like winches: wraps matter, load matters, line can slip if handled wrong. Functionalammers: opening/closing affects the system correctly Engine control: start/stop + basic throttle/gear behavior Anchor control: drop/raise anchor (with believable anchoring behavior) Crew note: For procedures that normally require more than one person, ideally support AI crew assistance and/or a multiplayer crew option. Goal: A sandbox mode where mastering the boat leaves you with real-world procedural confidence and a deeper understanding of how to operate a yacht.

Globe - Add land massesin progress

Currently https://www.marineverse.com/globe is only water and simple land outlines. Make it more realistic by adding nicer landmasses - with at least recognizable features like mountains

Globe: Provide electric motor

There’s are condition on cruise (when not actually racing of course) when it would be useful to have Uma’s electric motor to be able to maneuver in close quarters or when headed badly.

Chart plotter on UMA

When at the charting desk, the chart plotter controls are hidden or not available due to the frame the applet it set in. So… if you want to point on boat (quest) get details and then click on the wind app hyper link, it takes you to “windy”… but you can’t get back to the chart map without restarting your session. It’s not a huge deal, but me remembering where the wind contours are between restarts so I can refine my nav heading is a challenge

Error in stats reporting

In Feb 24 dingy zone 3 race the stats reported Retsirof as first to the mark with a time of 40.51. In reality, Bing a Ling was first at 51.29. It looks like it took the time Retsirof hit the layline on the starboard side of the mark. Not complaining, just to let you know.

Globe - More sails options

https://www.marineverse.com/globe Ability to use a spinnaker. Ability to use a whisker pole and bigger genoa. Storm jib? Also, make it interact meaningfully with wind speeds.

Globe - Multiplayer - Add Ability to See Other Boatsin progress

Currently Globe is single player. https://www.marineverse.com/globe Add ability to see other boats. Ideally, add ability to sail together, like like multiplayer. Perhaps add an option to invite someone else for co-op sailing. Perhaps add an option to use radio to chat with boats far away.

Sail Numberscomplete

I would like the ability to add my custom sail numbers to my sails: e.g. CAN & ###

Water mode - opt in/out for realistic boat movementin progress

SUGGESTED BY (Thor L. Jørgensen): Boats move on water, not just side to side. It needs to Bob in front. It felt just flat.

Ability to set Jib opposite side of Main while running

Currently Jib and Main always end up on the same side no matter how you try to control the Jib position. It would be nice to be able to set the Jib on the opposite side of the Main while on Run point of sail.
