RIght of way rules and penalties
SUGGESTED BY (Sean Nemeth): Add in the expectations of yielding right of way based on the sailing rules. Have penalties (360s) for not adhering to the rules or contact with other boats, etc.

Original description:
SUGGESTED BY (John Gainer): A 360 ruling is needed. If another yacht hits you the boat that did not have right of way should be notified and must turn in a 360 degree maneuver before continuing the race...early starts too must do this.

Right of Way rules and penalties are now part of MarineVerse Sailing Club (they’ve actually been in for a while).
If you spot bugs with specific rules or have ideas to improve racing rules in general, please create individual feedback posts so we can track and discuss them properly.

Next version - 1.9.5 - will expand on ROW collisions in multiplayer..
Leeward / Windward rule might work.. and potentially when hitting a boat from behind ( overtaking ) might work ( maybe more work is needed to detect if there was overlap before collision )..
When your boat is stopped during collision, you can look in On Hand Menu Log, to see what rule was used.
Let me know if you find any scenarios where rules are broken / don't work as intended.

Good start.
Started on this. In multiplayer, select "Collisions: ROW" ( Right of Way ). For now, only Port / Starboard is implemented, but other rules are coming.
In ROW mode, the boat with right of way is unaffected by the collision, while the offending boat is stopped and slowed down for a penalty period.
At the moment, the Right of Way is the only mode using rules, but in the future "Collisions: Always" will also incorporate it in some shape or form.

In multiplayer change offending boat from solid to static ghost for ten seconds instead of penalty spin, maybe just start with rule 10, 11.

This is the number 1 thing keeping my from really getting into this. Do we think this is going to be implemented soon?
Joseph McLachlan: it's on the roadmap for our "live" multiplayer mode. ( It would not work in Daily Race Practice, as those are just "race" ghost replays ). In terms of when, hoping to get this done in Q2 of 2022.
Status changed to planned
So as I understand it there are no current penalties for violating right of way rules.

Nice to have but I have no idea how it vould be implemented
Just watch match racing on YouTube LOL
Peter Bolton: Perhaps "Penalty Time" added to Final race time
Peter Bolton: If enforcing a 360 wasn't practical, could use the same as the current AC75 racing penalties and enforce a distance between the boats before the penalty is removed.
